On 15 January 2022, the 103rd anniversary of the death of the revolutionary martyr, Rosa Luxemburg, Marie Frederiksen, author of The Revolutionary Legacy of Rosa Luxemburg, dispels some of the most common myths surrounding her life and ideas. In particular, she takes apart the idea that Luxemburg developed some particular theory about how “spontaneity” is somehow superior to organised revolutionary action; and the idea that she was opposed to the Russian Revolution and Bolshevism.

In this talk from Socialist Appeal’s Revolution Festival in November 2019, Alan Woods – editor of In Defence of Marxism – discusses his book on the revolutionary movement that overthrew the Franco regime in Spain in the 1970s. Based on his own personal experiences and involvement, Alan explains how the movement to overthrow the Franco regime was a modern-day revolution, with the working class providing the motor force for change.
On the weekend of November 10 and 11 2018, the NYC comrades of the International Marxist Tendency hosted the 2018 Northeast Regional Marxist School. The weekend started with the premiere of The Revolutionary Philosophy of Marxism, led off by Alan Woods, who wrote the book’s introduction. He explained the Marxist worldview and why it is necessary to make the effort to study these ideas and methods.
